While Pippa was at The Royal College of Art in London doing an MA in Textiles, she was introduced to the Irish embroidery machine - a pre-war sewing machine that produces a dense satin stitch. It was an exciting discovery as it enabled Pippa to embroider delicate new shapes and reproduce more easily the mark making derived from her drawings and photography.
Pippa joined First Eleven when she graduated from the RCA in 2004. Her innovative collections for the studio range from colourful stripes through to appliquéd velvets with intricate details added.
Sometimes she will combine techniques, mixing print with embroidery or fabric applications, seeking always to be experimental, fresh and original in her work. She hand-dyes her own fabrics and her love of colour has been stimulated by occasional work in colour forecasting.
Pippa lives and works in London, gathering inspiration for her contemporary and stylish designing. Alongside her work for the industry she runs her own interior design service view website
